The designation enables TTA to conduct formal CE certification testing for digital products directly in South Korea.

The EU Cyber Resilience Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/2847) requires third-party conformity assessment for Class I products without harmonised standards, Class II products, and Annex IV critical products.
- Local Testing for Exporters: Non-EU manufacturers previously faced shipping physical prototypes to European laboratories. Local NBTL testing in South Korea reduces testing cycles and logistics costs for hardware and IoT exporters.
- Accredited Standards: The testing framework covers cybersecurity standards including ETSI EN 303 645 for consumer IoT and IEC 62443 for industrial systems.
- Continuous Compliance: Laboratory testing validates hardware and firmware at a point in time, but manufacturers must maintain dynamic SBOMs, technical documentation, and Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure (CVD) processes under Article 13 and Article 14.
