How billing works at CVD Portal

Stripe processes every payment. You can cancel any time, and you can delete your account and erase your data whenever you want. This page exists because you should know exactly how to stop paying us. Updated 10 June 2026.

Payment processor

Stripe handles all payments. We never see or store your card number.

Free trial

Every new account gets 14 days of Compliance features. No card required up front.

Cancellation

Cancel any time through the Stripe Customer Portal. No retention flows, no fees.

No lock-in

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing period. Deleting your account cancels immediately and erases your data.

How subscriptions work

  1. 01You are redirected to Stripe. Our checkout takes you to Stripe's secure payment page. We never see your card details.
  2. 02Stripe processes your payment. Card data lives entirely in Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure.
  3. 03Your plan upgrades instantly. Stripe notifies us over a signed webhook, and your account unlocks within seconds.

Your free trial

Every new account starts with a 14-day trial of Compliance features, the full CRA self-assessment suite. We do not ask for a card to start the trial, and we do not charge you when it ends. If you do nothing, your account simply drops to the Free plan. To keep a paid plan after the trial, you subscribe through Stripe.

Your data and payment privacy

Our servers store only the minimum needed to manage your subscription. Everything to do with your card stays inside Stripe.

What we store

Stripe customer ID

An opaque identifier that links your company to its Stripe records

Stripe subscription ID

Identifies the active subscription so webhooks can keep your plan in sync

Subscription status

Active, trialing, past due, or canceled. Drives which features unlock

Plan (Free, Reporting, Compliance, Enterprise)

Used to enable or restrict features in the app

What we never receive or store
  • ·Your payment card number or CVC
  • ·Your card expiry or billing address
  • ·Any raw payment credentials of any kind

Stripe is an independent, PCI-certified payment processor. For what Stripe collects and how it processes that data, see Stripe's Privacy Policy. For how we handle the rest of your data, see our Privacy Policy.

Managing your subscription

When you are signed in, open Billing and choose Manage subscription. That opens the Stripe Customer Portal, where you can view your plan and history, update your payment method, download invoices, and cancel.

You can also reach Stripe directly, even if our app is down. Go to billing.stripe.com/p/login, enter the email you used at checkout, and Stripe will send you a link to manage your subscription.

Cancelling your subscription

You can cancel at any time from the Stripe Customer Portal. When you cancel a normal way, here is what happens.

  • No immediate change

You keep your paid features until the end of your current billing period.

  • No refund

The current period runs to completion.

  • Automatic downgrade

After the period ends, your account reverts to the Free plan.

  • No data loss

All of your data stays intact, and your paid features unlock again if you resubscribe.

This is different from deleting your account. Normal cancellation keeps your access until the period ends. Account deletion cancels immediately and erases your data. See the next section.

Cancelling by deleting your account

Deleting your account is your GDPR Article 17 right to erasure. An account admin can do it from Settings, Account. When you delete, we first try to cancel your Stripe subscription, then we permanently erase your company, every team member, and all submission data. This cannot be undone.

If the automatic cancellation fails

In rare cases, for example if Stripe is briefly unavailable, the automatic cancellation may not complete. Your account and data are still deleted immediately, that is your right. If this happens we show you a warning with the steps to cancel manually through Stripe. Those steps are in the next section.

Payment failures

If a recurring payment fails, for an expired card or insufficient funds, here is what happens.

  • Stripe retries the charge

Stripe's smart retries attempt the payment again over several days.

  • Your plan stays active

During retries your paid features remain available. We do not downgrade you.

  • Stripe emails you

You receive payment failure notices from Stripe at your checkout email.

  • After retries are exhausted

The subscription is canceled and your account drops to the Free plan.

To fix a failed payment, open the Stripe Customer Portal and update your payment method.

If something goes wrong

If you are ever unable to cancel through our app, whether due to an outage or because you already deleted your account, you have two options.

Stripe billing portal

Go to billing.stripe.com/p/login, enter your checkout email, open the secure link Stripe sends, and choose Cancel plan. This works even if our website is completely down.

Contact your bank

As a last resort, ask your bank to block future charges from CVD Portal or Stripe. You can also request a chargeback for any undelivered service.

Your rights

  • Cancel any time. No questions, no fees, no retention flows.
  • Delete your account under GDPR right to erasure, even if subscription cancellation fails.
  • No vendor lock-in. Your data is yours, and we do not hold subscriptions hostage.
  • Full transparency. This page exists so you know exactly how to stop paying us.
